Since the age of 15 I have been transcribing music using the incredible Sibelius music notation software. Around the same time I was beginning to pick up speed with my learning of the bagpipes and learning tunes note for note, gracenote for gracenote, which came naturally to me.
Over the past eight years I have worked with Fred Morrison and David Hunter in the publishing of Fred’s music books. Most recently I transcribed all of the tunes, for both pipes and whistle, for Fred’s Second Collection.

I am meticulous when it comes to typing out tunes, taking great care and detail when transcribing music from recordings by ear.
As an accordionist/whistle player and general music fanatic, I find great joy in hearing pipe tunes being played with musically correct harmony lines. A Major tunes with G Naturals for harmonies don’t sit well with my ear! By writing harmonies based on the chord structure of the melody the piece connects better with the wider Scottish music scene, allowing pipers to play along with any other instrument like guitars or pianos and not have any clashing of key signatures.
On this sheet music section of my website you will find tunes composed by me, arranged by me and harmony sheets arranged by me. Please note that the harmony sheets DO NOT contain the original sheet music for the melody that has been harmonised. In this case you would have to seek out the original melody from the composer, something I would be more than happy to assist you with.
